"The Selectors are not fools..." A BCCI official reveals why Sarfaraz Khan is not getting chances in Indian Test side
Team India is scheduled to tour West Indies for a multiformat series in July. They will play two tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is, starting on July 12 and concluding on August 13. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's Test and ODI squads for the tour on Friday.

However, just after the team was announced, the Indian selection committee faced some backlash on social media from fans, and even some former Indian cricketers showed their disappointment with the team selection. Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped from the team, and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad got their test calls.

However, one name that was missing from the squad was Sarfaraz Khan. The 25-year-old has been scoring runs at the domestic level consistently and is at the peak of his form, especially in red-ball cricket.

He is among the highest scorer at domestic level in first-class cricket. But despite all of that, he has been consistently sidelined from his entry to the Indian test team. However, due to the outrage from the fans on social media, one of the BCCI officials came up and revealed why Sarfaraz was not given a chance in the team.

In a discussion with the Hindustan Times, the BCCI official said that the reason behind the consistent snub of the 25-year-old from the team's selection is not related to cricket. He also revealed that it is mainly because of his fitness and on-and-off-field actions.

The BCCI official said, "Are the selectors fools to not consider a player who has scored 900 plus runs in successive seasons? One of the reason is his fitness which isn't exactly of international standard. His conduct on and off the field hasn't exactly been top-notch. Certain things said, certain gestures made and some incidents have been taken note of. A bit more disciplined approach would only do him a world of good."

Team India will start the West Indies tour with two tests. Apart from Pujara, veteran pacer Umesh Yadav has also been dropped, and Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini have got the place in the team.
