"Very interesting.."- India's T20 World Cup star "surprised" by the BCCI sacking the selection committee

The end of India's T20 World Cup 2022 campaign didn't go as well as expected. India suffered a 10-wicket loss in the semi-final at the hands of England at the Adelaide Oval, which ended another disappointing T20 World Cup for the Men in Blue for the second successive time.

It resulted in a lot of chopping and changing by the BCCI. The Indian board was disappointed with the way things turned out, and as a result, the BCCI sacked the entire selection committee, including chief selector Chetan Sharma.

And they have invited fresh applications for the available posts in the selection committee. However, the immediate sacking of the selection committee came as a surprise to many, and even India's veteran wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik, who was part of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup, was also expecting that.

In a discussion on Cricbuzz, Karthik spoke on the decision taken by the BCCI after India's disappointing campaign. However, he also said that it is not a sacking, but the fact is that the tenure of the former is coming to an end.

Karthik said, "Very interesting development. I think none of us saw it coming. It is also an opportunity for the new selectors coming in and we have to see how things unfold."

He also added that it is not easy for the selectors to select 15–16 players from the bunch of 45 players, who are all capable. However, DK also said the new selectors who will come will also have some hard decisions to make.

After the T20 World Cup, India moved to New Zealand for a white-ball tour, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs. The T20I series is underway. India has given rest to their seniors like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli, and for T20Is and ODIs, Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan are the captains, respectively.
