The T20 World Cup 2021 begins from today onwards, the 17th of October, but for the Indian cricket fans, you will have to wait till October the 24th for India's first against arch-rival Pakistan.

When the Indian team's squad was announced, there were many questions over player, as to why he was selected and not him. Same is the case for Yuzvendra Chahal. Fans and experts were in queries as to why the experience leggie was excluded from the squad over an inexperienced Rahul Chahar.

Well, the Indian captain Virat Kohli himself voiced out as why Rahul Chahar was preferred over Yuzvendra Chahal. India's captain for the T20 World Cup 2021, Virat Kohli was present at the captains' press conference held before the global event begin.

Virat Kohli explained during the press conference after he was asked about why Rahul Chahar got the nod but not Yuzvendra Chahal. Virat Kohli stated that it was always a difficult call, but Rahul Chahar got the go due to him bowling consistently well in the last couple of years and can also bowl with more pace than Chahal, which he thinks will be helpful in UAE and Oman's pitches.

He also opined that Rahul Chahar bowled well in the Sri Lanka series as well as in England series at home, and was the one who bowled well during the difficult times.

Looking at the stats for both the individual in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Yuzvendra Chahal, playing for Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore, picked up 18 wickets in 15 matches, whereas, Rahul Chahar picked up 13 wickets in 11 matches for Mumbai Indians.

Talking about both of their career, Yuzvendra Chahal has played 49 T20 International matches in which he has 63 wickets and 241 wickets in all of T20 competition.

While Rahul Chahar has so far played only 5 T20I matches from 2019 and has picked up 7 wickets, whereas in all of T20 competition, he has played 70 matches and has picked up 84 wickets.
