Virender Sehwag reacts to Glenn Maxwell's 19-ball 45 against India in Sydney

The Indian cricket team is playing its first international match after the COVID-19 break. The Australian team hosted the Men in Blue at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Captain Aaron Finch led the team from the front, scoring a century. Former Aussie skipper Steve Smith backed him up with a fine ton.

Even David Warner scored a half-century at the top. But it was Glenn Maxwell’s blitzkrieg that pushed Australia’s total past 350. The Kings XI Punjab star took no time to settle in the middle as he launched an all-out assault on the opposition right from ball one.

Maxwell had not smashed a single six in the 13 matches of IPL 2020. However, in the match against the Indian cricket team, Maxwell smacked three balls outside the park in his first 13 balls only. Virender Sehwag had famously called him a ‘10 Crore cheerleader’ after his performance for the Mohali-based IPL outfit in the United Arab Emirates.

The fans would know Sehwag is a commentator for Sony in the ongoing India vs Australia series. He is a part of the Hindi team and here’s how he reacted to Maxwell’s inning.

“Australia ke liye run banaane padte hain kyunki drop hone ka darr hai, IPL me banao mat banao, drop hi nahi hote”

“You need to score for international team because you can get dropped. In IPL, you will not be dropped if even you fail.” (rough translation)

Another Twitter user shared Sehwag’s reaction to Maxwell’s performance:

"The way Glenn Maxwell is playing International Cricket for Australia, he does not play in IPL.”

Thus, in this way, Virender Sehwag seemingly praised Glenn Maxwell’s performance for Australia. Kings XI Punjab were thinking to drop him ahead of IPL 2021 Auction, but looking at his recent form, it is very much likely that KXIP may retain Maxwell and give him one more chance.
