VVS Laxman reveals why SRH signed Kedar Jadhav at IPL Auction 2021
Kedar Jadhav did not have a memorable stint with the Chennai Super Kings in IPL. Jadhav could not finish off the innings well, and his low strike rate prompted MS Dhoni to exclude him from the playing XI. As Kedar had an expensive deal, the Super Kings preferred to release him before IPL Auction 2021.
Not many franchises were keen to sign Kedar Jadhav at the auction. In the first round, Jadhav went unsold. However, the SunRisers Hyderabad ensured that Jadhav did not remain unsold till the end of the night. SRH signed the experienced Indian all-rounder at his base price to strengthen their middle order.
SRH mentor VVS Laxman explained in detail why the SunRisers Hyderabad signed Kedar Jadhav. Here’s what Laxman had to say:
“As far as Kedar Jadhav is concerned, just his experience will strengthen our middle order, we have exciting middle-order batters, in the last few years, we missed the experience in this department. Kedar is also a useful bowler, he is an international experience. I am happy that he is with us.”
Kedar Jadhav is a veteran of 87 IPL matches. He has been a part of the tournament for over a decade now. Over the last ten years, Kedar Jadhav has played for the Chennai Super Kings, the Kochi Tuskers Kerala, the Delhi Capitals, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Jadhav’s best IPL season was when he donned the RCB in 2017. He aggregated 267 runs in 13 innings for the Bangalore-based franchise. Speaking of his overall numbers, Jadhav has scored 1,141 runs at an average of 22.82 in the IPL. His strike rate has been 124.16, while Jadhav’s highest score is 69.
It will be interesting to see how all-rounder Kedar Jadhav performs in his first season for the SunRisers Hyderabad.
