Watch: KKR Skipper Nitish Rana went berserk, smashing 150 km/h pacer Umran Malik for 28 runs in over
It was KKR skipper Nitish Rana who won the toss and decided to bowl first. But his decision totally backfired on them, as SRH got off to a flying start with Harry Brook going berserk. He hit KKR bowlers all over the ground.
Brook scored the first century of the IPL 2023 and carried his bat through the inning, scoring 100 off 55 balls with 12 fours and three sixes. Skipper Markram also played well and scored 50 off 26, with five sixes and two fours.
Abhishek Sharma (32 off 17) and Heinrich Klaasen (16 off 6) also played good cameos. As a result, SRH posted the highest score in the IPL. They made 228/4 in 20 overs. It was a huge target to chase, but KKR had an even worse start.
KKR lost their first three wickets for just 20 runs in 3.3 overs and were almost down and out. But the KKR skipper pulled his team back into the chase. He and N Jagadeesan (36 off 21) added 62 runs for the fourth wicket.
Nitish played a rather fluent inning and started scoring runs from the start. He also smashed SRH speedster Umran Malik for 28 runs in the sixth over. It was the last over of the powerplay, and the KKR skipper didn't spare Umran. He smashed two sixes and four boundaries in one over.

However, the left-hander couldn't carry on for very long and got out for a well-made 75 off 42, with six sixes and five fours. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 58 off 31, and KKR finished at 205/7. As a result, SRH won that game by 23 runs.
