The 17th game of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is underway between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It is the second home game for the four-time champion this season.

CSK won the toss and decided to bowl first. Yashasvi Jaiswal missed the opportunity this time and got dismissed after scoring 10 off 8. After that, RR had a 77-run partnership for the second wicket between Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikka (38 off 26).

The partnership was looking threatening, but Ravindra Jadeja provided CSK with the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Padikkal first and following it up with a cracking delivery to RR skipper Sanju Samson. Jadeja dismissed Padikkal on the third ball of the ninth over, which was caught by Conway.

Meanwhile, on the fifth ball of the over, he broke through the gates and dismissed Samson with a ripper. Jadeja bowled a full and quick delivery. The RR skipper went back to block the ball but missed it, and the ball hit his off stumps.

With Samson's wicket, the all-rounder also completed his 200 wickets in the shorter format of the game (domestic and international). Notably, it is also the 200th game for MS Dhoni as CSK skipper. RR ended the inning at 175/8 in 20 overs. Buttler was the top scorer for Rajasthan with 52 off 36 balls.

Both teams have won two of their three games and are searching for their third wicket. CSK started with a loss against the defending champion Gujarat Titans. Then, they won the next two games, which were against LSG and MI.

On the other hand, RR started with a win over the Sunrisers in the first game but lost their second game to PBKS. However, Samson and his team won their third game against the Delhi Capitals.
