Watch: Unbelievable Hitting! Rinku Singh smashed five consecutive sixes to pull off an Impossible win for KKR vs GT
The defending champion Gujarat Titans locked horns with KKR at their home and posted a mammoth total of 207/7 in their first inning. Sai Sudharshan and Vijay Shankar scored quick half-centuries. Sudharsan made 53 off 38 with three fours and two sixes.
Shankar played a brilliant cameo and made an unbeaten 63 off 23 including four boundaries and five sixes. For KKR, Venkatesh Iyer and skipper Nitish Rana made an important partnership for the third wicket to keep KKR in the chase. Both batters added 100 runs for the third wicket.
Nitish made 45 off 29 while Iyer played a blinder of 83 off 40 balls, with 8 fours and five sixes. But once that partnership was broken, KKR lost consecutive wickets courtesy of an excellent hat-trick by GT skipper Rashid Khan.
He dismissed Andre Russell (1), Sunil Narine (0), and Shardul Thakur (0) off three consecutive balls on the first three balls of the 17th over. It was almost done and dusted for the two-time champion. But an unbelievable hitting from Rinku Singh sealed the deal for KKR.
In the last over, Yash Dayal came to bowl, and 29 were needed. Umesh Yadav, who faced the first ball, gave up a single to bring Rinku on the strike. But after that, it was something special, and Rinku smashed five consecutive sixes to win the game for KKR.
The left-hander remained not out for 48 runs off just 21 balls, with one four and six sixes. With this win, KKR registered their second successive win, while it was the first loss for the defending champion in this season.
