Watch: Vishnu Solanki puts IPL franchises on notice with a dream finish against Haryana
IPL 2021 Auction is fast approaching. The BCCI has declared that the auction will happen on February 18, thus generating a buzz among the fans. Just a few days before the IPL Auction, Baroda’s Vishnu Solanki has put the IPL teams on notice with a fantastic knock in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarter final against Haryana.
The Haryana cricket team had some big names like Mohit Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Rahul Tewatia. Batting first at the newly rebuilt Motera Stadium, Haryana posted 148/7 on the board. Himanshu Rana was the team’s top-scorer with a 40-ball 49.
Kartik Kakade was the best bowler for Baroda with figures of 2/7 in two overs. Even though Baroda did not have their star all-rounders Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya in the squad, Baroda still put up a solid show with the ball.
Chasing 149, Baroda got off to a stable start with Kedar Devdhar and Smit Patel denying the bowlers some early breakthroughs. Vishnu Solanki then came out to bat at number three and changed the course of the match with his 46-ball 71*.
The highlight of his knock was the last over finish. Haryana took the game to the last over as Yuzvendra Chahal conceded only 15 runs in his four overs. Even Arun Chaprana gave away 26 runs in his spell.
The equation came down to 15 runs off 3 deliveries, with Sumit Kumar bowling the final over. Although the Motera Stadium’s boundaries were big, Solanki smashed two sixes and one four off the last three deliveries to finish off things in style.
He smacked a six on the fourth ball, a boundary on the fifth, and a helicopter shot to finish off the run-chase with a maximum. Here is the video of the last three balls.
