The Indian cricket team lost to the South African cricket team by four runs in the third one-dayer of their 3-match series. For the first time in a long time, the Indian cricket team suffered a 0-3 defeat in a bilateral series.

All-rounder Deepak Chahar tried his best to save the day for the Indian cricket team in the final ODI which happened yesterday in Cape Town. The South African cricket team received an invitation to bat first from the Indian cricket team captain KL Rahul.

An excellent century from Quinton de Kock helped the South African cricket team post a 287-run total in the first innings. Prasidh Krishna was the best bowler for the Indian cricket team as he returned with a three-wicket haul.

Chasing 288, the Indian cricket team got off to a decent start with Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan scoring a fifty each. However, the South African cricket team bounced back and took wickets at regular intervals to gain the upper hand.

It seemed like the South African cricket team would win easily but an excellent half-century from Deepak Chahar kept the Indian cricket team’s hopes alive. Unfortunately, despite Chahar’s best efforts, India lost by four runs.

Deepak Chahar’s batting performance impressed everyone. Here’s what his sister Malti wrote on Instagram after the match:

“Well played brother. Wish India had won.”

Even Deepak Chahar’s soon-to-be wife Jaya Bhardwaj appreciated the performance on the field as she wrote:

"I have seen you wake up every morning for practice and go for every single game with the same hunger to perform and give your best for your country as I saw yesterday in the game," said Jaya Bhardwaj.

She concluded by saying that she was proud of Chahar's performance.
