Yusuf Pathan enrolls himself for Lanka Premier League

Yusuf Pathan

Yusuf Pathan has become the latest Indian name to associate himself with the Lanka Premier League. Popularly known as LPL, the first edition of the Lanka Premier League happened last year in Sri Lanka, where the Jaffna Stallions emerged as the champions.

Many big overseas names like Dale Steyn, Shahid Afridi, Andre Russell, Mohammad Amir and Irfan Pathan were a part of the inaugural LPL season. Apart from Irfan, Manpreet Gony and Sudeep Tyagi were also a part of the Lanka Premier League.

Yusuf Pathan recently announced his retirement from international cricket. Soon after retiring, Yusuf made his return to the field during the Road Safety World Series 2020-21. The Baroda-based all-rounder hit some big shots in the tournament and helped India Legends win the competition.

Now, Yusuf has enrolled his name for the second edition of the Lanka Premier League. This should not come as a surprise because Yusuf’s brother Irfan Pathan played in the competition last year. It will be exciting to see which team picks Yusuf in the draft of the second Lanka Premier League season.

Yusuf Pathan is not the only big name from Asia to register for the Lanka Premier League season 2 Draft

Yusuf Pathan’s former Kolkata Knight Riders teammate Shakib Al Hasan has also registered himself for the upcoming LPL Draft. In total, six players from Bangladesh have registered themselves for the Draft. Here’s the list:

It is pertinent to note that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has not given permission to the players to be a part of LPL 2. Apart from Bangladesh, big names from South Africa, Australia, West Indies, Afghanistan and Pakistan are also a part of the Draft.

Some of the most popular names in the list are Dwayne Smith, James Faulkner, Tamim Iqbal, Nicholas Pooran, Mohammed Irfan, Morne Morkel and Asghar Afghan.
