The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League has gotten off to a brilliant start with some excellent games. On Sunday, the Rajasthan Royals locked horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the afternoon game. It saw some excellent hitting from RR batters, followed by some good bowling.

SRH was without their skipper, Aiden Markram, and it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who took the charge. He won the toss and chose to bowl first. But it was a brilliant start. Buttler smashed a 19-ball fifty and made 54 off 22 with seven fours and three sixes.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Sanju Samson also scored quick half-centuries. Jaiswal made 54 off 38, including nine fours, while Samson made 55 off 34, with three fours and four sixes. As a result, RR posted the first ever 200-plus total in the IPL 2023.

They made 203/5 in their first inning. Chasing the target, SRH had a horrible start with two wickets without any runs on the board. Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi got dismissed for ducks. Harry Brook (13) was the third wicket to go, with a brilliant ball from Yuzendra Chahal.

SRH managed 131/8 and lost the game by 72 runs. Chahal was the pick of the bowlers with 4/17 in his four overs. With his four wickets, Chahal wrote history and became the first Indian bowler to take 300 wickets in the shorter format.

Brook was his 300th scalp. He had 91 international T20I wickets in that. Ravi Ashwin is second on the list with 287 total wickets, followed by Piyush Chawla (276), Amit Mishra (272), and Jasprit Bumrah (256).

Chahal was also the highest wicket-taker in 2022 with 27 wickets and won the "Purple Cap." Meanwhile, the second game of Sunday will see Royal Challengers Bangalore take on the Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Bangalore.
