Current IPL teams and the awards which they have Not won yet
IPL is the grandest T20 league in the entire cricket universe. No other league comes close to India's premier T20 league when it comes to revenue and competition level. The world's best players aim to play in this league. The organizers try to ensure every player gives his best by keeping some big awards in the IPL.
Perhaps, the biggest prize for an IPL team is the coveted IPL trophy. Even the fair play award is a great achievement for any team. As far as individual players are concerned, there is a Purple Cap for the player with the most wickets, while the batsman with the most runs wins the Orange Cap. The best player of an IPL season takes the MVP Award home. Meanwhile, the most impressive youngster captures the Emerging Player of the Year award.
Not every team has been successful in winning all IPL awards. In this article we will look at the awards that have eluded the current IPL franchises.
8. Rajasthan Royals - Orange Cap
The Rajasthan Royals were the first team to win the IPL trophy. They were also the first franchise to bag the Purple Cap, thanks to Sohail Tanvir.
However, no batsman from RR has won the Orange Cap. Ajinkya Rahane was in the race during a few seasons, but of late, no RR batsman has been so consistent in IPL.
7. Chennai Super Kings - Emerging Player and Most Valuable Player
The Chennai Super Kings have won the IPL title three times. They have made it to the playoffs ten times, while they have even won the Fairplay Award many times.
However, two trophies are still missing when it comes to CSK players. The first is the Emerging Player and the second being MVP. It is a bit surprising none of CSK stars have won the MVP title yet.
6. Punjab Kings - Won all IPL Awards but never won trophy
The Punjab Kings have won all individual awards up for grabs in the IPL. The Mohali-based franchise has also taken the Fairplay Award home.
However, they have never been the IPL champions. They came very close in 2014, but the Kolkata Knight Riders beat them in the summit clash that year.
5. Kolkata Knight Riders - Purple Cap and Fairplay Award
The Kolkata Knight Riders have had many great bowlers in the team like Sunil Narine, Brett Lee, Brad Hogg, Shoaib Akhtar, Pat Cummins, and others. Still, they have not won the Purple Cap.
Surprisingly, KKR has played 13 seasons but never won the Fairplay award. However, KKR are one of the only three teams with more than one IPL trophy to their name.
4. Royal Challengers Bangalore - Purple Cap, IPL Trophy, and Fairplay Award
RCB and KKR are the only two teams to have never won the Purple Cap award. Bangalore's bowling has been the team's weak point, and their Purple Cap tally proves the same.
Bangalore has never won the IPL trophy as well. In fact, they have never got the Fairplay Award in the 13 editions of the Indian Premier League.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad - Won all IPL Awards except MVP
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are only missing the MVP Award in their cabinet right now. They won the IPL trophy and the Fairplay award in the same season (2016).
David Warner and Kane Williamson have won the Orange Cap. Mustafizur Rahman has been the Emerging Player, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has won Purple Cap.
2. Delhi Capitals - IPL trophy, Orange Cap, MVP, and Fairplay Award
The Delhi Capitals have been a part of the IPL since 2008. They have featured in every IPL season. But they have not won four IPL awards so far.
The IPL Trophy, Orange Cap, MVP, and Fairplay award have eluded DC in 13 years. Shikhar Dhawan and Virender Sehwag were very close to Orange Cap, but they could not win it.
1. Mumbai Indians - Captured all IPL Awards
The Mumbai Indians are 5-time IPL Champions. They won the Fairplay award in 2020. Sachin Tendulkar won the Orange Cap and MVP in 2010.
Lasith Malinga seized the Purple Cap in 2011, while Saurabh Tiwary was the Emerging Player of the 2010 season. Hence, MI is the only team to have won all IPL Awards.
