Here's why Tamil Nadu star Shahrukh Khan has listed himself in lowest category of base price in IPL Auction

Shahrukh Khan

Masood Shahrukh Khan has made a name for himself with his incredible batting performances in domestic cricket. The Chennai-born cricketer made his Indian Premier League debut for the Punjab Kings in the 2021 edition of the tournament and impressed with his fantastic performances.

Talking about his numbers in domestic T20 cricket so far, Khan has played 50 T20 matches, scoring 547 runs at a strike rate of more than 135. He is famous for his six-hitting skills. Here’s what Punjab Kings batting coach Wasim Jaffer had to say about Khan:

“To hit sixes consistently against 140 kph pace, right after going in around the 14th or 15th overs, and still keep your reputation intact is hard. I think that is the toughest job in T20. Your strength and execution have to be at a premium level. So that way, he is a special talent."

While the Punjab Kings did not retain Khan for the IPL 2022 season, the right-handed batter has set his base price for just INR 20 lakh at the upcoming auction. This decision has surprised many fans.

However, they should note that Khan is an uncapped player right now. So, as per the auction rules, the uncapped players cannot set a base price of more than INR 20 lakh.

Avesh Khan and Shahrukh Khan have same base price in IPL 2022 Auction

Like Shahrukh Khan, Avesh Khan has also set a base price of INR 20 lakh at the mega auction. The right-arm pacer was very impressive for the Delhi Capitals in the 2021 season. However, he finds himself in the auction pool now.

Although their base prices are low, it goes without saying that Shahrukh and Avesh will be among the most expensive players of the auction. It will be interesting to see which team signs the two uncapped players.
