ISL 2021-2022 | 3 Goals early on enough for ATK Mohun Bagan to win Kolkata Derby against SC East Bengal

ATK Mohun Bagan scored 3 goals early to win this season's first Kolkata Derby against SC East Bengal on the 27th of November at the Tilak Maidan.

SC East Bengal hosted the fellow Kolkata arch-rival ATK Mohun Bagan in the season's first Kolkata Derby. It is the away team ATK Mohun Bagan who came out as the winners.

ATK Mohun Bagan scored 3 early goals in the first half which was enough for the Mariners to win the match.

Roy Krishna opened the scoring first and 2 minutes later that, Manvir Singh scored the 2nd goal of the match. Liston Colaco added the third goal of the match.

Even though SC East Bengal kept ball possession early on, ATK Mohun Bagan when got going, did not stop at all. Roy Krishna open the scoring at the 12th minute with a brilliant first touch goal of a cross from Pritam Kotal.

And just 2 minutes later, Manvir Singh took a brilliant right footed shot of a through ball from Joni Kauko, the ball hit the top corner at the far post like a rocket.

The match was put to rest at the 23rd minute when Liston Colaco scored a beautiful goal after SC East Bengal goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya committed a mistake. Arindam came of his line to clear the ball, but Liston beat him and put the ball at the back of the net to make it 3-0.

ATK Mohun Bagan further got more opportunities to make it beyond 3 goals, however, they failed to convert those chances.

Both teams went into the tunnel with almost the match wrapped up early.  SC East Bengal made whole lot of changes in the 2nd half, including the captain and goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya, who went off injured, Suvam Sen replaced him.

Suvam performed really well, given that it was his first ISL match. He kept Roy Krishna silent and didn't allow the goals count to increase. However, SC East Bengal didn't had the answer to ATK Mohun Bagan's defensive strength as they couldn't score a single goal or trouble the goalkeeper a lot.

As a result of which, ATK Mohun Bagan is now back at the top of the table with 2 wins in 2 matches, while SC East Bengal is 10th with 1 point from the draw against Jamshedpur FC.
