ISL 2021-22 | Hugo Boumous scores a brace as ATK Mohun Bagan beat Kerala Blasters
ATK Mohun Bagan completely dismantled Kerala Blasters in the opening match of the Indian Super League 2021-2022 season as they scored 4 to Kerala Blasters' 2 on the night.
ATK Mohun Bagan's new signing showed their class as Hugo Boumous netted a brace, while Liston Colaco scored one and assisted one. Roy Krishna was the other scorer for ATK Mohun Bagan. Sahal Abdul Samad and Jorge Pereira Diaz scored the goals for Kerala Blasters.

ATK Mohun Bagan's new signing Hugo Boumous live up to the hype as he scored a beautiful goal in just the 3rd minute of the match. It was a beautiful curler that went straight in, giving goalkeeper Albino Gomes no chance as he was preparing for a deflection of Roy Krishna.
It was end to end game throughout, the green and maroon got number chances to increase their lead, but manage to do so.
Instead it was Kerala Blasters who scored the equalizer as Sahal Abdul Samad brilliantly chest down a ball from Rahul KP and shoot it past the ATK Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Amrinder Singh.
But, it was just short lived, as Hugo Boumous completely opened up the Kerala defence, giving Roy one and one and opportunity, but was brought down by the goalkeeper and was awarded a penalty, which Roy Krishna easily converted.
The green and maroon army increased their lead further as Hugo Boumous went dancing past the Kerala Blasters' defence of the loose ball, and sent the ball through the goalkeeper's leg to make it 3 goals for ATK Mohun Bagan.
At the half-time whistle, ATK Mohun Bagan went in with 2 goals advantage over Kerala Blasters. But it was increased to 3 as just 5 minutes into the match, Liston Colaco curled in an world-class goal to make it 4 for the green and maroon.
Kerala Blasters fought hard and it was all looking likely to end 4-1 in favour of ATK Mohun Bagan, just when at the 69th minute, Jorge Pereira Diaz scored the 2nd goal of a beautiful through ball from Adrian Luna.
Kerala Blasters worked hard to find that 2 goals that would have allowed them to walk out with 1 point at least, however, as ever, ATK Mohun Bagan defence was unbreakable.
The match ended 4-2 in favour of ATK Mohun Bagan, who got the first 3 points of the season.
