Star Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri recently reacted to Virat Kohli’s decision of stepping down as the captain of the Indian Test cricket team. Many sports fans would know that Chhetri and Kohli are close friends off the field. They have interacted with each other many times.

Most famously, they also had an Instagram live session during the 2020 lockdown period when everyone was at their homes. Virat Kohli, on Saturday evening, dropped a bombshell, announcing that he will no longer be the captain of the Indian Test cricket team.

Like the way he relinquished the captaincy in the T20I format, Virat Kohli posted a long message on social media, thanking the fans, the board, the coaches and his teammates for their support throughout his 7-year journey.

Kohli became the Indian Test cricket team captain after MS Dhoni’s sudden retirement from the longest format of the game. He made his Test captaincy debut in 2014, but he became India’s full-time captain in 2015.

Since then, he led the Indian cricket team to many famous wins. Most importantly, he helped the Indian Test team improve their record in matches outside India. Under Kohli’s captaincy, the Indian Test team recorded series wins over the mighty Australian cricket team in their own den.

Sunil Chhetri posted a heartfelt comment under Anushka Sharma’s post for Virat Kohli

Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli’s wife, posted a lengthy note on social media and showed respect to her husband’s achievements as the captain of the Indian Test cricket team. The two-photo post has gone viral on Instagram. Famous Indian football team player Sunil Chhetri left the following comment under the post:

“He did good, indeed. And his good was, to put it simply, the best ever.”
