PKL 2021: List of players Retained and Released by Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan have been a part of the Pro Kabaddi League. However, the Pune-based franchise has never reached the final of the tournament. They have signed some big names over the last few years. However, none of them have been able to guide the Puneri Paltan to the PKL trophy.

This year, the franchise has decided to release their captain PO Surjeet Singh ahead of PKL Auction 2021. Along with Surjeet, experienced players Nitin Tomar and Girish Maruti Ernak have also been released by the Puneri Paltan.

The Pune-based franchise has retained four Indians and one overseas player. The sole overseas player retained by the Puneri Paltan is Iran’s Hadi Tajik. Among the Indian players, the retained names are Balasaheb Jadhav, Pawan Kumar Kadian, Sanket Sawant and Pankaj Mohite.

The Puneri Paltan have spent big on Nitin Tomar in the previous two auctions. However, the player could not play to his full potential because of injury issues. It is unlikely that the Puneri Paltan will target Tomar at the auction again.

With the likes of Rahul Chaudhari, Pardeep Narwal, Ajay Thakur, Manjeet Chhillar, Rohit Gulia, Sachin Tanwar, Rohit Kumar available, the Puneri Paltan will try to form a squad that can end the championship drought of the franchise.
