5 Cricket Players you didn’t know once played for Team India

 

Rishi Dhawan started his career as an opening batsman and soon developed himself as a bowling all-rounder who is well known for his slower variations. The 30-year-old has done well with both bat and ball in the domestic circuit. His all-round performance in domestic cricket earned him a national call up in 2016 for the tour of Australia. Rishi made his ODI debut against Australia at the historic MCG followed by his T20I debut against Zimbabwe at Harare which was his last game in international cricket.

The left-handed Vidarbha opener, Faiz Fazal, is one of the consistent performers in the domestic circuit. Till now, the Nagpur born has amassed 8404 runs in 125 FC games that he played at an average of about 42. In 2016, Fazal earned his maiden call-up for the ODI series against Zimbabwe. He made his international debut in the third ODI and went on to score an unbeaten 55 while chasing down the target of 124 along with KL Rahul. After that game, Fazal has not played a single match for India due to the comeback of senior players in the squad.

The Punjabi all-rounder, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, is a quality player for any team as he can contribute with both bat and ball. Gurkeerat received his maiden call up by his impressive performances for India A in the triangular series. But unfortunately, the Punjabi all-rounder didn't get a single game in the home series against South Africa. In 2016, Gurkeerat made his ODI debut against Australia. Due to his back to back failures, he was dropped from the team and has never given a chance since then.

Sudeep Tyagi, one of the few Indian bowlers who can regularly clock 140 kmph. He came to the limelight with a prolific 10-wicket haul against Orissa followed by 9 wickets in the next game against Andhra Pradesh. He finished off the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy season with 41 wickets most by any bowler in that season as he bowled at an average of about 22.Tyagi made his national debut in the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka in Delhi. His last game was against the visiting Proteas as he conceded 59 runs in 8 overs at a losing cause.

Another tall bowler from Uttar Pradesh, Pankaj Singh, a promising young fast bowler who made his debut for Rajasthan during 2004-5 Ranji trophy season. Till date, Pankaj has played 117 FC games and bagged 472 wickets including 30 four-wicket haul and 28 five-wicket haul that he bowled at an average of 23.76.However, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at Harare and returned with the figure of 0 for 45 in seven overs. Pankaj played 2 Tests and a single ODI for Team India.
