5 cricketers who have also appeared in Tamil movies
The Tamil film industry has produced some classic movies over the last many years. Movie lovers across India have enjoyed Tamil movies in either Hindi, English, or their regional language dubbing. The Tamil film industry has given many Superstars to the world as well.
Another thing that the people of Tamil Nadu love is cricket. Their IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings has a crazy fan following in south India, and the fans witness a sea of yellow always at Chepauk. Considering the love of cricket and movies in Tamil Nadu, several cricketers have tried their hand in Tamil movies as well. Here's a list of the five cricketers who have appeared in Tamil movies.
5. Irfan Pathan
The latest name to appear on this list is former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. The left-arm fast bowler was also a talented batsman who could smack big shots and turn the game in his team's favor. Pathan retired from all forms of cricket on January 4, 2020. However, he has played in the Road Safety World Series and the Lanka Premier League after retirement.
Pathan will make his first appearance in a Tamil movie in the upcoming film Cobra. The teaser of this film was recently released, and it also features Chiyaan Vikram. It will be exciting to see how Irfan performs in his first Tamil movie.
4. Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh was a part of the Indian cricket team that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011. Singh achieved much success in the Test format of the game as well. After playing for the Mumbai Indians from 2008 to 2017, Singh switched to the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018.
Harbhajan has enjoyed the love he has got while playing for Chennai, and he has also tried his best to learn the Tamil language. Singh will feature in the upcoming Tamil movie Friendship, also featuring Arjun Sarja and Bigg Boss Tamil fame Losliya Mariyanesan.
3. Sadagoppan Ramesh
Sadagoppan Ramesh was a Tamil Nadu-based cricketer, who represented the Indian cricket team in 19 Test matches and 24 ODIs. Ramesh was a left-handed batsman and he even bowled right-arm off-spin.
Unfortunately, he could not stay in the Indian cricket team for an extended period. Ramesh tried his luck in the Tamil film industry then as he featured in movies titled Potta Potti and Santosh Subramaniam.
2. Varun Chakravarthy
Varun Chakravarthy became the talk of the town after the Kings XI Punjab signed him for a massive amount in the IPL Auction. While Varun could not impress for KXIP, he became a big name while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
After a fantastic IPL 2020, Varun even received his maiden Indian call-up. When he became popular, his appearance in the movie Jeeva also came into the spotlight. He had acted in the movie back in 2014.

After some incredible performances for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL, Dwayne has become a popular name in India. He made a guest appearance in the 'Yenda' song Tamil movie Chithiram Pesuthadi 2.
