While in Tests, the hat-trick is solely down to a bowler's skill, in the shorter versions, the game situation could also land a hat-trick in the bowler's lap. Mark Boucher played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the initial seasons. While he was known for his wicket-keeping skills, the South African also did well with the bat very often. However, he owns this record of being the third wicket of a hat-trick in IPL. The bowler was Yuvraj Singh, who was more of a part-time option employed by Kings XI Punjab. He had taken the big wickets of Robin Uthappa and Jacques Kallis and Boucher was caught LBW to help Yuvi complete the hat-trick.

2) JP Duminy - IPL 2009

Rohit Sharma is one of the best batsmen in the history of IPL. Of course, with five trophies to his name, he is the most successful captain in the league. However, when he played for Deccan Chargers in 2009, he also took a hat-trick. Incidentally, it was against Mumbai Indians, his current franchise. While Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh were the first two wickets, Rohit got the big wicket of JP Duminy to complete his hat-trick. Robin Uthappa is one of the popular players who have been the third wicket in an IPL hat-trick. Ajit Chandila was the bowler and Robin was stumped out by the Rajasthan Royals spinner. With Uthappa's wicket, Pune Warriors were down to 11 for 3 and went on to lose the game. Before Uthappa, Jesse Ryder and Sourav Ganguly were also out to Chandila as part of the hat-trick.

4) Ravindra Jadeja - IPL 2016

Axar Patel did well in his initial years in IPL. He also took a hat-trick when he was playing for Punjab in 2016. Axar's feat was against Gujarat Lions. He took the wickets of Dinesh Karthik and Dwayne Bravo before picking the scalp of Ravindra Jadeja to complete the rare achievement.

5) Rohit Sharma - IPL 2017

Bowler to take the hat-trick - Samuel Badree

While he has taken a hat-trick, Rohit Sharma has also been the hat-trick wicket in the history of IPL. It was in 2017 against RCB. Samuel Badree had done well to collect two wickets. However, with the Hitman at the crease, very few expected the West Indian to complete the hat-trick. Rohit, though, was clean bowled and allowed Badree to claim the feat.
