5 Tamil Nadu Players Who Went Unsold In IPL 2021 Auctions
At the moment, Tamil Nadu has a massive representation in IPL. There are quite a few players from the state who will play IPL 2021. The list includes India players Ravichandran Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik, T Natarajan, Washington Sundar and Vijay Shankar. The uncapped list has names such as Varun CV, Murugan Ashwin, Shahrukh Khan, C Hari Nishaanth, M Siddharth, R Sai Kishore and Sandeep Warrier.
Tamil Nadu recently won the SMAT and established itself as the best domestic T20 team in the country. As a result, many talents from the squad found franchises to play IPL cricket in 2021. However, a few of them were not able to earn contracts at IPL 2021 Auctions. We talk about them in this article.
1. G Periyasamy
G Periyasamy's name came up in the auction, only to eventually go unsold. A good friend of current sensation T Natarajan, Periyasamy has a slingy action and is also known as India's Malinga. The pacer has also done well in TNPL and for his state team. He is tailor-made for T20 cricket, and many felt that IPL 2021 would be his breakthrough season. However, that was not to be. He could not find a contract, thereby eliminating his chances of playing in IPL. That said, he must take motivation from his friend Nattu and keep the performances coming so that he gets a chance in the future.
2. Baba Aparajith
Baba Aparajith has been part of CSK and RPS franchises in the past. However, he is yet to make his debut in IPL. Last season, no team was interested in him, and hence, he did not win a contract. The situation will be the same for the upcoming campaign too. It is unfortunate considering Baba is a consistent performer in domestic cricket. He has done well in the T20 format too, especially when his team needed the most. Despite all this, luck just does not seem to favour Baba, who will now have to start it all over again.
3. KB Arun Karthick

Arun Karthick is not a new name in the domestic circuit. He is a firebrand T20 cricketer, who is known for explosive knocks batting at the top of the order. Arun has played for RCB in the past. Although he has been far from IPL in recent years, his performances have not diminished. In fact, he is in the best phase of his career at the moment. However, for him too, a contract did not materialize in 2021.
4. R Sonu Yadav
Primarily a bowler, R Sonu Yadav can also bat a bit. He is a youngster and was part of the squad that won the SMAT recently. Sonu was part of the auctions but did not earn a bid. Although he deserved one, Sonu is yet to deliver his best performance, something that might have made teams not consider him. Nevertheless, he is still young, and plenty of chances would lie ahead of him to play IPL cricket.
5. M Mohammed

Tamil Nadu's best pacer in the victorious SMAT campaign, M Mohammed also missed earning a contract at the auctions. He is one of the consistent performers for Tamil Nadu and is a prominent part of the team. After a good tournament, Mohammed might have expected a bid. However, that was not to be and eventually, he went unsold. Like Periyasamy, Mohammed must also take motivation from Nattu and keep performing consistenly.
