Virender Sehwag is one of the most destructive openers that the Indian Premier League has ever witnessed. Even for India, or for that matter any team that he represented, Viru was a swashbuckling opener. With the ball, too, Sehwag has had a fine run. He has a total of 136 international wickets to his name. However, in IPL, the Delhi player hardly bowled. Yet, he has six wickets to his name. In this article, we take a look at six popular players who were out to Virender Sehwag's bowling in the history of IPL.

Unlike the Indian Team of the present, in the past, a lot of batsmen used to roll their arms over. Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Sehwag were all part of the bowling attack. Viru had the knack of collecting wickets and hence, he was often employed by Dada to do the job.

1) Parthiv Patel - IPL 2008

Back in 2008, Virender Sehwag came on to bowl for Delhi against Chennai Super Kings. The CSK unit had a lot of left-handers, and this was one of the reasons why Viru brought himself on. Sehwag took the wicket of Parthiv Patel, and this was his first scalp in the competition. Tamil Nadu's Yo Mahesh took the catch to help Viru complete the dismissal.

2) Abhishek Nayar - IPL 2008

In the next game itself, Viru collected another wicket. This time around, former Mumbai all-rounder Abhishek Nayar was his victim. Nayar was then playing for the Mumbai Indians. MI had started well, and Sehwag had Nayar clean bowled to mount pressure on the Mumbai team.

3) Dimitri Mascarenhas - IPL 2008

English all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas is one of the popular players who were out to Virender Sehwag's bowling in the history of IPL. The player was a dangerous hitter, and Sehwag used his bowled skills to knock the Englishman's stumps. Yet, he could not stop Rajasthan Royals from winning the game.

4) Shaun Tait - IPL 2010

Sehwag then never collected a wicket in the IPL for almost two years. However, in 2010, he came back and yet again, it was Rajasthan Royals that was at the receiving end. However, Sehwag's wicket of Shaun Tait did not have a great impact on the scorecard. Dinesh Karthik had completed the stumping in this case.

5) Mike Hussey - IPL 2010

The 50th game of the IPL 2010 was the last time that Sehwag earned rewards for his bowling in the competition. In that match against CSK, he collected two wickets. Delhi was doing well with the ball and they needed to get Mike Hussey out. Sehwag bowled four overs that day, giving away 18 runs and collecting two wickets. Hussey was one of them.

6) Albie Morkel - IPL 2010

In the same encounter against CSK in 2010, Viru also took the wicket of Albie Morkel. The South African all-rounder was out for just a run and it was Paul Collingwood who helped Viru with the wicket by taking a good catch.
