The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 has been disastrous for the Indian cricket team so far. They first lost to arch-rivals Pakistan cricket team by ten wickets and then suffered an 8-wicket defeat at the hands of the New Zealand cricket team, who have been very dominant against India in the ICC tournaments.

Now, the Indian cricket team has an opportunity to avenge the defeats it has suffered against the New Zealand cricket team in the ICC tournaments. The two nations will be facing off in India soon. The tour will comprise 3 T20Is and two Test matches.

The Blackcaps have already named their T20I squad for the India tour, but the home side is yet to announce their squad. Seeing the performance of the Indian cricket team in the T20 World Cup 2021, it should not be a surprise if the selectors opt for some new faces.

According to reports, senior players will skip the series and rest for some time. Thus, it is possible that we may see the following five star players of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League in action during the India vs New Zealand T20I series.

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad won the Orange Cap in the IPL 2021 season. He struggled in the series against Sri Lanka, but he can perform well in the home series against New Zealand if given an opportunity.

2. Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer played a massive role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2021 turnaround. The all-rounder bats left-handed and bowls right-arm pace. He can be tried in the New Zealand series if Hardik Pandya prefers to rest.

3. Shreyas Iyer

It was a surprise to see Shreyas Iyer missing out on a place in the T20 World Cup 2021. He performed well in the IPL 2021 season and should be considered for the New Zealand series.

4. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was a star performer for RCB in IPL 2021. After a shocking exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad, Chahal should be back in the Indian team for the New Zealand series.

5. Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel won the IPL 2021 Purple Cap award. Since the Indian cricket team has struggled to pick up wickets in the first two matches of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, they can perhaps try Harshal in the home series against New Zealand instead of the pacers they have used in the T20 World Cup.

6. Deepak Chahar

Another wicket-taking bowler present in India is Deepak Chahar. Deepak can provide breakthroughs in the powerplay overs. He can also contribute in the batting sectio. Thus, Deepak should be given a chance after his good performance in IPL 2021.

7. Umran Malik

According to a latest report by PTI, Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Umran Malik has an outside chance of making it to the Indian T20I squad for the New Zealand series. Since he has the pace, Malik can be considered for selection. If he performs well, he can be an asset for the Indian pace attack.
