A Strong XI Of Active Indian Cricketers Who Have Not Played In IPL

Indian Cricketers Who Have Not Played In IPL

Although the Indian Premier League has offered Indian cricketers a massive platform to showcase their skills, for a few players, IPL has still not come their way. These cricketers are yet to get a chance to play in the league, although they have been good in the domestic circuit. In this article, we take a look at a strong balanced XI of active Indian cricketers who have not played in IPL so far.

Competition for places even in an IPL XI is becoming intense now. Many franchises are having quite a few capped domestic cricketers and hence, the new ones are not getting an opportunity. That said, with two new teams coming in IPL 2022, these players could stand a chance to feature in the competition.

Openers: Mohammed Azharuddeen (WK) and Priyank Panchal

Mohammad Azharuddeen was one of the stars in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament. He later followed it up with a decent show in the VHT too. However, the Kerala wicket-keeper did not get a chance in the first phase of IPL 2021.

Priyank Panchal may be a traditional five-day batsman, but we have seen plenty of examples wherein players with a solid technique have found success in the competition. Hence, for the talent that he has got, it is unfortunate that Panchal is yet to get a chance in IPL. This makes him one of the active Indian cricketers who have not played in IPL so far.

Middle-Order: Abhimanyu Easwaran, Baba Aparajith (C), Avi Barot and Pavan Deshpande

Abhimanyu Easwaran is an opener but he has the skills to operate at No.3. For Bengal, the batsman has actually done well in a few limited-overs fixtures. However, an opportunity to play in IPL has still not arrived. The same is the case with Baba Aparajith. He has been part of IPL before but is yet to play a single game. The Tamil Nadu man is talented and needs a chance at the earliest.

Avi Barot and Pavan Deshpande are the other two members of this XI of active Indian cricketers who have not played in IPL so far. Barot has been doing well recently while Pavan is a seasoned campaigner. The latter has been with RCB but is yet to get a chance.

All-Rounders: R Sai Kishore and Ashutosh Aman

We have two similar players in R Sai Kishore and Ashutosh Aman for this XI. While Sai is younger, Aman is close to 35, and it would not be a surprise if he does not get a chance to play in IPL altogether. Sai was also part of the Indian contingent that had recently been to Sri Lanka. He was actually in line to receive his cap for the final T20I game but did not get the chance. Aman has been performing well across formats in domestic events in recent years.

Bowlers: Ishan Porel, Ganeshan Periyaswamy and Arzan Nagwaswalla

It will be an all-pace attack in this department. Ishan Porel, Ganeshan Periyaswamy and Arzan Nagwaswalla are the bowlers for this XI. While Porel has been with Punjab for a while, the other two are yet to get a chance. That said, Periyaswamy has been doing well in TNPL and could soon earn a chance. On the other hand, Arzan is a left-arm pacer who has travelled with the squad to England. He too could get an opening in the upcoming seasons.
