Sachin Tendulkar responds to Virat Kohli’s hilarious reaction during the game against Delhi Capitals

Both Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) have done well so far in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where they had three wins each before they took on each other in the recent game at Dubai International Stadium.

RCB captain Virat Kohli elected to bat first after winning the toss. Put in to bat first, Delhi Capitals’ openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw got off to a flying start. Prithvi, who took the charge between the two, hit a few boundaries to help Delhi put up a decent score inside the power play.

However, during the innings, Virat Kohli was seen on the verge of applying saliva on the ball. It took place when he was fielding at short cover and nearly violated the interim ICC rules of not using saliva on the surface of the ball. Amid the crunch situation of the Covid-19 outbreak across the globe, the ICC has put a temporary ban on this as well.

'Sometimes instincts take over': Sachin Tendulkar on Virat Kohli’s  gesture

The bizarre incident happened during the game when Shaw pulled off a drive in the third ball of the third over of the speedster Navdeep Saini but Kohli brilliantly fielded that. After that, he was about to use saliva on the ball but soon realized his mistake and laughed out loud with his behaviour and threw the ball to his teammate.

Meanwhile, his hilarious on-field moment didn’t take much time to become viral on social media. While fans started commenting on that, batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar too responded on this incident.

Former Indian player and batting great Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and tweeted the reaction that Kohli portrayed on the field. He wrote, “What an incredible shot by @PrithviShaw there! A million-dollar reaction by @imVkohli after almost applying saliva on the ball. Sometimes instincts takeover!” tweeted Tendulkar.

However, this is not the first time that a player forgot about the rule in the IPL 2020. Last week, Rajasthan Royals player Robin Uthappa had also mistakenly applied saliva on the ball while playing against Kolkata Knight Riders. As per the new ICC regulations, repeated use of saliva on the ball could see a 5-run penalty to the batting side as well. Even, according to the rules, the umpires will have to clean the ball before the game resumes as well.
