Captain Virat Kohli returned to the Indian cricket team for this Test match and he performed brilliantly in the first innings, scoring 79 runs for the team. He led the Indian cricket team from the front by playing an exceptional knock in tough batting conditions.
Former Indian cricket team batter Aakash Chopra lauded Virat Kohli for his knock and said:
"We saw the patience, discipline, determination, dedication and that it is mind over matter. Whatever you want to see in a batter in Test cricket, you got to see that. A century has not been missed by 21 runs but he has scored 79 runs. These 79 runs are more valuable than a lot of centuries."

Virat Kohli scored 29 runs off 143 deliveries in the second innings of the Cape Town Test match. His innings was long and entertained the cricket fans.
