Reports: Sam Curran and Moeen Ali may not play for CSK in rescheduled IPL 2021
Sam Curran and Moeen Ali are two of the biggest match-winners for the Chennai Super Kings. The two English all-rounders have brought their ‘A’ game to the table while playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni in the Chennai-based franchise.
However, the two English stars might not be available for the Super Kings in the second phase of IPL 2021. As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, all English players are unlikely to be a part of the Indian Premier League in the second phase, which is likely to happen in September.
England men’s team’s Director of Cricket Ashley Giles stated that the English team has a busy schedule and he expects all players to be available. Here’s what Giles was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo:
“None of us knows what a rearranged IPL looks like at the moment; where it's going to be or when. But from when we start this summer against New Zealand, our programme is incredibly busy. We've got a lot of important, high-profile cricket including the T20 World Cup and the Ashes. And we're going to have to look after our players.”
Moeen Ali and Sam Curran will not be the only players to miss out

If the England Cricket Board (ECB) does not give a No-Objection Certificate to its players for participating in the rescheduled phase of IPL 2021, then the likes of Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Curran, Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan, Sam Billings, Chris Jordan, Chris Woakes, Liam Livingstone, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and many other stars will be not be able to play.
Giles informed that England will tour Pakistan and Bangladesh before the ICC T20 World Cup, which was why it would be tough to release the players for the IPL season.
"We're planning on the involvement of England players in England matches. We've got a full FTP schedule. So if those tours to Pakistan and Bangladesh [in September and October] are going ahead, I'd expect the players to be there," he added.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians will be almost unaffected by this decision, but the other teams will miss out on their big names.
