Aaron Finch names Adam Zampa as his Man of the Tournament

Australian captain Aaron Finch made history by becoming the first player from his country to lift the ICC T20 World Cup trophy as skipper. Australia has been home to some of the best captains in cricket history, but none of them were able to win the ICC T20 World Cup title before. 

The Aussies qualified for the T20 World Cup Final in 2010, but they lost to England in the summit clash. But after 11 years, Australia finally won their first T20 World Cup Final and became the 2021 champions. 

The battle between Australia and New Zealand was expected to be a close one, but half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and David Warner ensured Australia chased the 173-run target with eight wickets and seven balls to spare. 

Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The decision proved to be a good one as the Kiwis got off to a disappointing start. Opener Martin Guptill failed to get going and scored only 28 runs off 35 deliveries. 

Captain Kane Williamson saved the day for the Blackcaps and set a new record for the highest individual score by a captain in an ICC T20 World Cup Final. His 85-run knock guided New Zealand to a 172-run score in 20 overs. 

Aaron Finch says Adam Zampa is his Man of the Tournament 

Captain Aaron Finch’s opening partner David Warner won the Man of the Tournament award, but as per the skipper, it should have been leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who was the highest wicket-taker for Australia. 

“Zampa’s been unbelievable. His skill is so high. His confidence in his ability to get good players out. The way that he bowled, for me, he was man of the tournament. Davey (Warner) pipped him at the post at the end there, but he was fantastic," Aaron Finch said on SEN Breakfast.
