Injury scare for Kane Williamson before 2nd Test against England

Ahead of the second test between England and New Zealand, Kiwi Captain Kane Williamson is set to miss the 2nd Test due to an elbow injury. However, star bowler Trent Boult is available for selection at Edgbaston, confirmed the NZ head coach.

The Black Caps skipper has been suffering from a tendon issue on his left elbow for a while now. This has affected his cricketing presence on the field. The middle-order batsman missed the One Day series in March against Bangladesh and the initial weeks of the fourteenth edition of the IPL, where he represents the Hyderabad outfit. Despite all of these injury concerns, he did lead the National Team for the most recently concluded first test of the England tour at Lord’s.

On the other hand, Trent Boult is expected to feature in this test, as he has completed his quarantine duty earlier than expected due to the relaxed COVID-19 rules in the United Kingdom.

Stead asserted that the Black Caps management could play Trent in the second test match. This is a massive boost for the visitors. He also hopes that in the second test match, Trent can do what he does best. Boult will replace one of the pacers in the bowling attack, Stead confirmed.

Kane Williamson is not the only Kiwi player dealing with injury

Meanwhile, another injury news has come out that left-armed all-rounder Mitchell Santner has been ruled out of selection for the second test. He has had a fresh scar on the cut on his left index finger.
