The Best Under-25 T20 XI For India At The Moment
Team India has one of the best systems when it comes to nurturing young talent and giving them opportunities. Of course, IPL has a big role to play but at the root level too, the system is robust for cricketers to show their talent. In this article, we take a look at the best under-25 T20 XI for Team India at the moment.
Usually, it is around 27 or 28 years when a player hits his peak. Most of the famous players, like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, were at their best at this age. However, we are now seeing this trend taper off. Despite being very young and inexperienced, many cricketers are showing top-class form and consistency.
Openers: Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal
Let alone the Under-25 T20 XI for India, this duo is well-prepared to even represent the senior squad. Even at the recent IPL games, Shaw and Padikkal were in exquisite touch. While Shaw is more of an attacking batsman, Devdutt has recently exhibited his fearless game. Padikkal also has a great temperament to survive at the highest level. The duo is just in their early twenties and will have a huge role to play in Team India's future.
Middle-Order: Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant (C&WK)
It will be a really talented middle-order for this XI. Shubman Gill, who is yet to crack the T20 format, could actually do well if he is played at No.3. He likes to take his time to build the innings and this is exactly what a No.3 batsman usually does. Hence, Gill comes in at No.3.
U19 mates Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant will complete the middle-order of this XI. While Pant made his debut long back and is in the best phase of his career, Kishan recently made his debut for India. Both are fearless batsmen and always look to go for their shots. For his experience, Pant will also captain this squad.
All-Rounders: Riyan Parag and Washington Sundar
Riyan Parag and Washington Sundar will be the all-rounders in this under-25 T20 XI for Team India. Riyan Parag is essentially a batsman but when it comes to the T20 format, the man from Assam can be relied upon for a few overs of off-spin.
On the other hand, Washington Sundar already possesses experience of playing for Team India. He is a power-play specialist and has recently done well with the bat in Test cricket. He will hold a senior position in this line-up.
Bowlers: Rahul Chahar, Kartik Tyagi, Avesh Khan and Chetan Sakariya
Rahul Chahar will lead the spin attack of this XI. The Rajasthan cricketer has been in top form for Mumbai Indians for the last two seasons. Whenever he comes on to bowl, a wicket looks inevitable.
In the pace department, we have Chetan Sakariya, Avesh Khan and Kartik Tyagi. Chetan has come onto the scene recently and looks like a cricketer whom Team India can invest in. Avesh Khan impressed in the first phase of IPL 2021 and got a ticket to England as a reserve bowler. Kartik Tyagi was a net bowler in the Australian series. He is considered one of the future stars of the Indian bowling attack.
