Yasir Arafat reveals he almost played for KKR

Recently in an online interview with a YouTube channel, "Sports Yaari," former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat made it public that the Kolkata outfit had offered him a three-year deal way back in 2008. However, to his misfortune, Arafat could not earn his maiden IPL cap due to political complications. In consequence of the Mumbai Attacks 2008, the BCCI decided to ban Pakistani players from playing from the IPL.

The T20 specialist that Yasir Arafat is has spoken extensively about his career during the interview. Bagging loads of experience while playing different T20 leagues around the globe, Arafat revealed that the Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan had sent a talent scout to watch Yasir Arafat while he was playing in England back in 2008. The fact that the owner himself was watching the player with deep interest left Yasir in amazement. He thought it was a prank played by someone, Yasir did not reach out to the scout again.

After a few days, Arafat got a call from the franchise, and when he realized it was not a prank, he also learned that KKR was about to offer him a 3-year contract before the second season. "Shahrukh Khan called me the next day and said, 'Welcome on board, I want you to play for my team," the all-rounder said. King Khan visited London and handed the contract.

Yasir Arafat talked about Sourav Ganguly

In the same interview, Yasir also went on to speak about his relations with Indian Cricketers. Speaking about Dada, Yasir revealed that Ganguly was one of the few cricketers who attended his wedding, despite having busy schedules during that time.

It means that it would've been a friends reunion had Arafat got a chance to play for Kolkata Knight Riders under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly. Now, Arafat has taken retirement from cricket and aims to focus on being a coach.
