Dale Steyn reacts to old tweet after IPL 2021 gets postponed
South African speedster Dale Steyn was one of the most feared bowlers in world cricket. However, of late, his performances had not been up to the mark. Steyn played three matches in IPL 2020, picking up one wicket at an economy rate of 11.40.
Interestingly, before IPL 2021 began, Dale Steyn decided to pull out of the competition. He withdrew his name well before the auction. While some fans thought Steyn might have picked up an injury, it was not the case.
The South African fast bowler decided to play in the Lanka Premier League and the Pakistan Super League. While LPL 2020 ended as per the original schedule, PSL 2021 had to be postponed after a few matches.
The Coronavirus breached the bio-bubble in PSL, resulting in many players getting infected. As a result, the organizers had no other option but to postpone the event. Steyn had to return home after a brief period only.
At that time, a Twitter user tagged Dale Steyn and told him he had time to decide the better league between PSL and IPL. He also pointed out how IPL managed to finish properly in 2020. Steyn replied to him and said he was funny.
Dale Steyn replies to his 2-month old tweet
The aforementioned exchange happened on March 4. On May 4, 2021, unfortunately, the BCCI had to postpone IPL 2021 because of a COVID-19 outbreak in the biosecure bubble.
Steyn then went back to his 2-month old tweet and just wrote Hi with a masked emoji. This tweet has drawn various reactions on Twitter, with the tweet receiving over 3,500 likes and over 1,000 retweets in a short time.
It is pertinent to note that although Dale Steyn was not playing IPL 2021, he was giving his views on the tournament as a cricket expert. The fans await an official update on the resuming date of IPL 2021 from the BCCI soon.
