Jaydev Unadkat reacts to being ignored for England tour
Jaydev Unadkat has been one of the most consistent pace bowlers in the domestic circuit. The Indian cricket team does not have a left-arm fast bowler in the Test format now, with T Natarajan still recovering after surgery.
In T Natarajan’s absence, the selectors named uncapped left-arm pace bowler Arzan Nagwaswalla in the standby players list. After seeing the Indian squad for the ICC World Test Championship and the England tour, former Indian player Dodda Ganesh sent out a tweet, expressing his disappointment over Jaydev Unadkat’s exclusion.
“What else does Jaydev Unadkat need to do to get into the Indian test squad. It’s perplexing to see him being ignored again and again despite great performances year after year at the FC level,” Dodda Ganesh wrote.
A few fans started to troll him because Unadkat was a bit expensive with the ball in the recent IPL seasons. Replying to those trollers, Dodda stated that the ones who are trolling Unadkat should look at his stats in first-class cricket, specifically of the last five years. Ganesh highlighted that Unadkat had been the best seamer.
Jaydev Unadkat replied to Dodda Ganesh
Jaydev Unadkat was also happy to see someone asking questions about his exclusion. The Rajasthan Royals star, who plays for Saurashtra in the domestic arena, replied to Dodda Ganesh:
“Your concern motivates me even more! Bring on the next season.”
It was fantastic to see Jaydev Unadkat respond with so much positivity. Patient players like him often end up as one of the big names in cricket. Dodda Ganesh was also delighted to see the response from Unadkat.
The former Karnataka cricketer compared Unadkat’s journey with himself and added that even he did not get enough opportunities despite performing well at first-class level. He mentioned that he did not wish any youngster to undergo that.
It will be exciting to see if BCCI includes Jaydev Unadkat in the Test squad for the future tours.
