There were a couple of surprises in the squad, but no one had predicted the return of MS Dhoni, albeit in a different role. The legend will be the mentor of the squad. MS Dhoni gets appointed as Mentor of Team India for T20 WC

On August 15th, 2020, MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. The legend won all the three ICC events as a captain. He also had numerous performances with the bat and the gloves that took India to victories. Hence, many felt that his void would be felt in the squad.

It seems that even BCCI has realized it. Hence, they have got MS Dhoni on board as the mentor of the squad that will play in the World Cup. This will boost India's chances at the event.

Suresh Raina reacts to the news

Suresh Raina is a good friend of MS Dhoni. He has shown this on multiple occasions. Hence, when news came out that MSD will mentor Team India at the T20 World Cup, Raina was naturally ecstatic. He said that it was a "fabulous decision" to bring MS Dhoni on board.

Suresh Raina tweeted, "All the very best to #TeamIndia on the upcoming T20 World Cup, the selected squad looks very balanced. Good to have @ashwinravi99 back in the team, and a fabulous decision by @bcci to have the man himself @msdhoni Bhai as the mentor."

Raina also said it was good to have R Ashwin back in the squad. The off-spinner last played in T20I cricket back in 2017. The trio of Dhoni, Raina and Ashwin had won several games both for CSK and for Team India.
