The Indian cricket team is currently playing a home series against the New Zealand cricket team. Meanwhile, the India ‘A’ squad is in South Africa where they are playing an unofficial Test series against South Africa ‘A’.

The first match of the unofficial Test series is currently underway, and the pitch at the Mangaung Oval looks fantastic for batting. In the first innings of the match, South Africa ‘A’ scored 509/7 and declared the innings.

Pieter Malan and Tony de Zorzi scored a century for the South Africa ‘A’ team, while Jason Smith, Sinethemba Qeshile and George Linde scored a fifty each. It is pertinent to note that Navdeep Saini and Arzan Nagwaswalla had reduced South Africa ‘A’ to 14/2 in 3.3 overs.

The Proteas fought back and frustrated the Indian bowlers. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar lost his cool during the first innings as he was unhappy with the umpire’s decision. Chahar bowled a delivery to Qeshile and appealed for LBW.

However, the umpire did not raise his finger. An angry Rahul Chahar then threw his sunglasses in frustration. You can watch the video of that incident right here:

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s century helps India ‘A’ fight back

Abhimanyu Easwaran has scored a magnificent century for India ‘A’ in the first innings. The India ‘A’ team has reached 308/4 in 93 overs. Captain Priyank Panchal missed out on his century by four runs, while opener Prithvi Shaw was dismissed after scoring 48 runs off 45 balls.

Baba Aparajith is currently batting in the middle with Upendra Yadav. A good performance in this series can help the India ‘A’ stars earn a place in the Indian cricket team’s squad for the World Test Championship series against South Africa that will start in December. It will be interesting to see which players make the cut.
