But, another moment from that PPV which got a special place in the hearts of WWE fans is the one when Nia Jax knocked out R-Truth and entered the Men’s Royal Rumble match at #30. Although women had entered men’s Royal Rumble earlier also, this was the first occasion after WWE introduced a separate Royal Rumble match for the ladies.
So, Jax entered the match and eliminated Mustafa Ali. Then, she overpowered Rey Mysterio. The men understood that they needed to attack The Irresistible Force to eliminate her from the match. Dolph Ziggler took the initiative and hit a picture-perfect Superkick to Nia Jax’s face.
Next, Rey Mysterio set her up for a 619 and delivered a brutal move. Lastly, Randy Orton hit her with his trademark RKO to shock the entire WWE Universe. No one expected Nia to show up in the men’s bout that night forget about eating an RKO.
Randy Orton and Nia Jax recently rewatched that incident on WWE Playback and here’s how the two stars reacted.
Nia Jax: “I literally cried before entering the match because it was a dream come true for me. It was amazing for me to see the fans cheering for Rey Mysterio to hit me with a 619. I can never forget that look on Randy’s face.”
Randy Orton: “There was not much I could do. So, I did what I do the best.”
So, this is why Randy decided to hit her with an RKO.
